Leader: His Grace, Ian Helfast, The Duke of Briarsby
As an unincorporated duchy south of Gapswitch, Briarsby rests precariously within the wild. However, this has not always been the case.
More than forty years ago, Briarsby was a booming colony, thanks to an swift and early treaty with the Adan tribe of orcs. Surveyors from Briarsby discovered fluorite, a mineral valuable to the military for the production of arms and armour, as well as other precious metals in the surrounding region.
Briarsby, with the Adan tribe’s support, established a treaty with the Javach orc tribe south of Briarsby in the Toima Steppes allowing Beoramont to expand into the Okkari mesas beyond; a region renamed to Chesterwood by the king and given over to the rule of a newly appointed duke: His Grace, Thomas Braun II, the Duke of Chesterwood.
During the Great Invasion, Beoramont was under siege from the north by many abominations; while the south, which included Gapswitch, Briarsby, and Chesterwood were left relatively unguarded. Briarsby was besieged by abomination forces from both western and eastern borders; many of its small communities and guard posts fell during the first night of terror. The orc tribes, along with forces from Gapswitch and Chesterwood came to the aid of Briarsby for a series of various engagements. Chesterwood’s forces were ever at the front of battle, and in the last days Thomas, the Duke of Chesterwood, fought alongside Ian, The Duke of Briarsby and eradicated the abomination forces from Briarsby. Thomas Braun II died during the final defense of Briswald village.
The devestation of the war left the Duchy of Briarsby in ruin, removing from it the mines and food crops that fed both Chesterwood and Gapswitch.
